In our Program: Jivamukti Yoga

 

Jivamukti Yoga Open Classes encompass all aspects of practice and are accessible to all levels of Yogis. These classes follow the tradition, method, and lineage of the Jivamukti School founded in NYC by Sharon Gannon and David Life in 1989. In an open class, you work at your own pace while following your teacher's guidance.

This practice consists of flowing Vinyasa sequences and includes traditional Vedic and contemporary teachings and commentary, Sanskrit chanting (Mantra), breath awareness (Pranayama), meditation (Dhyāna), hands-on alignment, and relaxation. We practice sitting, standing, and inverted postures (Asana) and will suggest more challenging variations for advanced students.

Music plays an integral role in a Jivamukti class; you might find yourself practicing along to myriad soundtracks of Ragas and Kirtan, global trance, reggae, hip-hop, and more.

Wednesdays, 9:15 – 10:30 with Clare
