Introducing Our Teachers: Rachel Meyer
Rachel is an American writer and yoga teacher. She completed her BA in Sociology and Gender Studies at the University of Delaware and an MA in Systematic Theology in Berkeley, CA under groundbreaking feminist theologian Rosemary Radford Ruether. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, Yoga Journal, Yoga International, On Being, Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, HuffPost, Parents Magazine and more.
Rachel earned a Certificate in Yoga Philosophy at the California Institute of Integral Studies, where she studied with yoga luminaries Richard Rosen, Carlos Pomeda, Gary Kraftsow, and Sally Kempton; she then studied Patanjali’s Sutra with Chase Bossart and Kate Holcombe. Before moving to Basel in 2018, Rachel taught for a decade in premier studios throughout San Francisco, Portland, and Boston.
As part of B.Yoga’s YTT 2023-2024 faculty, Rachel will explore yoga history through a 21st-century lens, as well as instruct interfaith perspectives on yoga philosophy, trauma-sensitive yoga, and contemporary issues in the yoga world.
Rachel draws from her roots in musical theater, theology, and the arts to teach a wholehearted, vigorous vinyasa. Her classes are rich in yoga philosophy, sweaty with hard work, and down-to-earth in tone. You can expect an Ashtanga-inspired pace, creative sequencing, musical sensibility, and a vertical split or two along the way. She hopes you’ll walk out feeling a little stronger, a little softer, and a lot more you.
